Basketball Teams Cross over into New Season

The Basketball season began at the beginning of November with all new players. The first varsity boys game on the third, and the first varsity girls game on the twelfth.

“We’ve been working on just getting around to know each other, but overall we work well as a team,” Center, Peyton Culberson (9) said.

Both teams have been running drills and working on fundamentals in preparation for the season.

“Teaching core fundamental work is probably what we can most improve on,” Sarah Hallum, the assistant Girls Basketball Coach said “But we couldn’t ask for any more, those girls are coming in having a great attitude and great work ethic.”

Some players and coaches teams have expressed the concern that the most challenging teams will be the Kennedale Basketball program.

“We play for district, and what we know is Kennedale has been the top team in our district and we hope to change that,”  Brant Bennett, the Boys Basketball team assistant coach said.

With a new season and new players, the basketball players, such as JV forward, Kayla Aston (9), look forward to setting higher standards.

“This season is a season to develop, learn, improve, and prepare for the many seasons ahead of us,” JV forward, Aston said.
