On Thanksgiving morning in New York, the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade was held for its 97th anniversary. This parade has been happening since 1924 and it has been broadcasted on television since 1953. This year, the parade had a record audience of 28.5 million viewers and is the most watched entertainment program of the year on linear TV.

The parade had many great performances and floats this year. Since the show is family-friendly, there were appearances from Snoopy, Sesame Street, Baby Yoda, Spongebob, Po from Kung Fu Panda, Ninja Turtles and many other characters. There were also many musical acts including performances of “Juliet,” “Shucked,” “Spamalot,” “Worship” and more.

Due to the Israel-Hamas conflict, there were also some pro-Palestinian protesters. Many of them were arrested and cleared by 11 a.m. There were also many marching bands and performances by celebrity singers. The Radio City Rockettes also performed in the parade, dancing to “Christmas Lights.” To close the show, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus announced the start of the Christmas season.
