The girl’s basketball team hosted their seventh annual Heritage Hoopfest tournament starting on November 16.

They played their first game in front of the entire school against the MacArthur Cardinals, which they won by a score of 65-15. Seniors Grace Sweeney and Ivy Preusser led the jaguars in scoring with 15 points each.

Later that same day, they would play the Chisholm Trail Rangers, whom they would defeat by a score of 47-21. Preusser would again lead the team in scoring with 14 points, while junior guard Ava Batty would add 11 points of her own to help the Jaguars improve to 8-0 on the season.

The next day the Jags took on Dallas Thunder and they won that game with a score of 47-36. Senior guard Maddie Berumen would lead the team in scoring with 11 points, including two 3-pointers, while Sweeney put up 10 points.

In their next game, the Jags would succumb to the Poteet Pirates in a close 38-30 loss. Sweeney would put up 10 points while Batty would add in nine.

On the third and final day of the tournament, the Jags would play the Brewer Bears in the championship game. They would end up placing second after losing by a score of 57-27. Batty would lead the team in scoring with seven points.

This is the first time in three years that the Jags have not won their home tournament. Nevertheless, seniors Grace Sweeney and Ivy Preusser were both named to the all-tournament team for their outstanding play.
