FCA met on Friday September 16th during TASSEL  in the practice gym to discuss how God and athletics are one. They started off by taking a minute to thank God for their athletic abilities, then they divided into small groups, where they discussed things a little more in depth and read some scriptures from the Bible.

Students seemed to be very fired up about the meeting, and everyone sat with anticipation. Most people attending seemed to not only be in the meeting for themselves but for the people around them.

“My favorite part of FCA has to be my small groups because the girls are so sweet and we just bring each other closer to God,” Mckenna Cooper (9) said. “We apply things that happen to each other and using it to influence our lives and others.”

They gathered with the hopes of making a difference in the lives of their peers and hopefully bringing someone who didn’t know God before to now know him. Their were a variety of athletes there from students who play sports in school to others who really just have a passion for God and the amazing things he does.

“The reason I’m in FCA is because I want to try and make the biggest impact I can on everyone around me and just be a light for God,” Creed Spenarath (10) said. “Its helping me be closer to God   because while I’m trying to help other people be closer to God it’s helping me too!”

During small groups they broke up into group of boys and girls, where they sat in circles and prayed. They asked trivia questions, read scripture and asked the students how that scripture applies to their athletics department. Some students questioned how God and athletics could even go together but the leaders assured them God has everything to do with athletics. At the end they all promise to play for God and quickly exit to their next class.

” I was asked to come here by a friend and I really do wanna be closer to God,” said Jayden Carrick (9). “I really didn’t know that much before this then I come here and it really does open your eyes to seeing how God effects every aspect of our lives!”
