OPINION: Youre A Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Marvelous Musical

The musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” performed by the Heritage Thespians was the best $7 I’ve spent this year. It was a wonderful performance for any school, especially our new theater group. The actors were outstanding choices for each part the individual played, and they all had spectacular singing voices. The musical could not have gone much better.

Walking into the cafeteria on the night of the final show, I was very skeptical of how the performance would go, mostly because the theater group is so new and young. The show started out impressively and was even a little funny. The scenes were broken up well, and though not all of them went with the storyline, it wasn’t confusing. The scenes didn’t flow, but they were all entertaining. Every actor did an outstanding job of portraying their character in a way that was both hilarious and true to the original Peanuts characters.

The few moments after intermission were cute and fun. Linus came out on stage and got all of the audience to interact with the play, and encourage Charlie Brown to continue with the story. It was a terrific way to get all of the kids to feel like they were part of the show.

I would highly recommend this musical for anyone in need for some entertainment, but especially for those familiar with the Charlie Brown movies. Some scenes I had never seen before, but the general story fit with the theme originally brought to life by Charles Schulz. I was extremely impressed with the theater students that participated in this musical.
