Since the creation of the first Five Nights At Freddy’s game, the original fans have been waiting for this movie for what has felt like forever. Although this review has come a little late since the release of the movie, its impact is still continuing, especially on TikTok (I know you’ve seen the Josh Hutcherson edits). The influence it has set on this generation has inspired me to write a review on my initial thoughts and feelings while watching.

From the start of the movie I was hooked. I absolutely loved how they tied in the pixel minigames from FNAF 4 in the intro, along with the kids choir, and symbolism. I immediately knew, just from the intro, this movie would be great.

When I found out the movie was PG 13 before watching, I got a little worried of what its execution would be like, but I was proved wrong. Personally, Foxy was terrifying. I loved how they tied in his little song, while adding a creepier tone to it. I also thought it was hilarious how insane Chica’s cupcake was, she did the most damage out of all of the animatronics.

When I got to the “fort building scene,” I was a little sceptical about the rest of the movie. I was expecting the animatronics to behave like they do in the games. But then, I later realized that the souls of the four are just kids, and the scene became more understandable.

Further into the movie, when they introduced “The Yellow Bunny,” otherwise known as “Springtrap,” I got absolute chills. Especially when Vanessa said that William Afton (Springtrap) was her father. This was unexpected since Vanessa isn’t one of Afton’s kids in the lore, rather she was a character from the new fanmade game known as “Security Breach.”

Many people were disappointed in the way Afton said his famous line, “I always come back.” Describing it as “too quick” compared to the game’s version. However, the way Afton says his last words in the game isn’t realistic, since his lungs are literally being crushed. In my opinion, I think Mathew Lillard did great at demonstrating Afton, and it was great to see him as another horror movie icon.

Although I was a little disappointed in the lack of game lore throughout the movie, it was an amazing movie to experience. Recently, Five Nights at Freddy’s Two has been confirmed. Allegedly, this movie will contain all of the toy characters, Mangle, Balloon Boy, and Marionette Puppet. I cannot wait for this next movie, and hopefully there will be more to come.
