As the announcer called out the Varsity Senior players the crowd started to erupt with clapping and the occasional whistle, the Lady Jags would take the court and go head to head with the Benbrook Lady Wildcats. Our Lady Jaguar Varsity basketball team played on Tuesday December 6th at Heritage.

The varsity team was expecting this to be an easy win, only to be surprised by Benbrook, who came out strong and kept up with us leaving with a final score of 47-35. It wasn’t an easy win but it was a win as said by Jaguar parents. Our team had a rough game struggling to pull ahead but in the end accomplishing their goal.

“We didn’t do our best it was an ugly win but we got the job done,” said Kennedy Miller (12). “ We could have improved by just working harder and moving the ball better and mostly shooting a lot better.

Making several mistakes and many turnovers didn’t hold back our Varsity team, they came out strong and showed Benbrook just what the Lady Jaguars are really made of. Being kept on track by head coach Jason Hodges helped the team pull through and get over their many mistakes last night.

“We didn’t play to the best of our ability, we had several turnovers, we just weren’t there but we still came out with the win so that’s our only positive,” said Brittiney Gardner (11). “Coach Hodges really helped us keep our heads in the game and not let the mistakes effect us.”

The players saw tonight’s game as nothing but an opportunity to improve and really show Jaguar fans what they can really do and how they really play.

“We definitely didn’t play very good but we still had a win,” said Allie Smith (12). “Just all together we weren’t playing like we normally do, our shots weren’t going in and we were just off, our chemistry just wasn’t there tonight but we’re better than this game I know it.”
