MASTIC, Long Island, N.Y. — A 69-year-old father was fatally stabbed inside his apartment early on Labor Day, and prosecutors say the alleged attacker was his own adult son.
Suffolk County prosecutors said Sage Arias-Brown, 33, allegedly broke into the Mastic apartment belonging to his father, Edward Brown, at around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
According to prosecutors, the attack quickly turned violent. Arias-Brown allegedly stabbed his 69-year-old father multiple times in the abdomen and chest before leaving the building.
The circumstances surrounding what happened inside the apartment remain unclear. Authorities have not established publicly whether an argument or confrontation occurred before the stabbing or what may have prompted the alleged attack.

Witness Heard Father Screaming for Help
During Arias-Brown’s arraignment, Assistant District Attorney Melissa Grier described what a witness allegedly heard during the incident.
