Despite the fluctuating score, shouts of encouragement erupted across the Lions Stadium as students, teachers, and parents rose to their feet in excitement. The cold air required the large crowd to be enveloped in their blankets and letterman jackets, but it was not enough to stop them from cheering on the Jaguars as they triumphantly hoisted their trophy high in the air at the end of the night.

Varsity Football crushed the Kaufman lions the night of Friday, November 18, taking them to another playoff game in hopes of competing in state. As a true embodiment of spirit, gratitude, and unity, Heritage’s playoff game in Ennis was one to remember.

“It was a good game. We just executed more, and kept our head in the game,” Kerrion Fields (wide receiver) said.

With the harsh weather, a majority of the crowd wasn’t sure they could even stick it out until the end, especially the ones with limited protection from the forty-degree weather.

“The cold, and the misery of the cold, was completely worth [waiting.]” Lauren Tuttle (10) said.
