CHANDLER, Ariz. — More than a year after the tragic death of influencer Emilie Kiser’s 3-year-old son, Trigg, a medical examiner’s report has provided an official cause of death.
According to the Maricopa County medical examiner’s report, Trigg died from an anoxic brain injury due to drowning. The report also classified the manner of death as an accident and stated that the injury occurred after the boy drowned in a residential pool.
The new finding brings an official medical conclusion to a tragedy that devastated the Kiser family and drew widespread public attention because of Emilie’s large social media following.
Trigg died on May 18, 2025, six days after he was found unconscious in the family’s backyard pool in Chandler.
Trigg Was Found Unconscious in Family Pool
The incident happened in May 2025 while Emilie was away from home and her husband, Brady Kiser, was caring for their two children.
According to investigative information previously released, Brady told police he lost sight of Trigg while he was also caring for the couple’s newborn baby.
Investigators later determined through surveillance footage that Trigg had been unsupervised for more than nine minutes and was in the pool for approximately seven minutes before he was pulled from the water.
Emergency responders were called after the boy was discovered unconscious. Police began CPR at the scene before firefighters took over medical care. Trigg was transported to the hospital and remained critically injured before ultimately dying six days later.
The medical examiner’s finding that the death resulted from anoxic brain injury reflects the severe lack of oxygen caused by the drowning.
Police Recommended Child Abuse Charge Against Brady Kiser
The tragedy later became the subject of a criminal investigation.
The Chandler Police Department recommended a felony child abuse charge against Brady after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the drowning. The case was then sent to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for a final prosecutorial decision.
However, prosecutors ultimately decided not to charge Brady Kiser.
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said the office determined there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction after reviewing the evidence submitted by police. The prosecutor’s office also considered the surveillance footage and the legal standard required to prove the alleged offense beyond a reasonable doubt.
The decision meant Brady would not face criminal charges in connection with his son’s death.
Emilie Kiser Says She Has Forgiven Her Husband
In the aftermath of Trigg’s death, Emilie has spoken publicly about the enormous grief experienced by her family.
The influencer, who has millions of followers across TikTok and Instagram, has also said that she forgave her husband, acknowledging the painful circumstances surrounding the accident.
During an emotional appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Emilie said she believed the tragedy could have happened to her as well.
Her comments reflected the complicated grief the family has faced since losing Trigg and came as the circumstances of his death remained under intense public scrutiny.
Family Welcomes New Baby After Tragedy
More recently, Emilie and Brady announced that they are expecting another child, with Emilie describing the pregnancy as a bright moment during an extremely difficult period for the family.
The announcement came more than a year after Trigg’s death and marked another major chapter for the family as they continue to grieve.
The family has also faced public criticism over social media posts involving their younger child. Emilie addressed one recent controversy after footage circulated showing 16-month-old Teddy on a boat without a life jacket, saying she would “do better.”
The medical examiner’s report now officially identifies Trigg’s cause of death as an anoxic brain injury caused by drowning, while classifying the death as accidental.
For the Kiser family, the report adds another painful piece of documentation to a tragedy that permanently changed their lives.
