California Police Chase Erupts Into Chaos After Teen Driver Allegedly Rams Patrol Car While Officer is Still Inside

Simi Valley, California — A late-night stolen-vehicle investigation quickly turned into a dangerous police pursuit after a teenage driver allegedly refused to stop, a firearm was thrown from the fleeing car and the vehicle eventually rammed a police patrol car with an officer still inside, authorities said.

The incident unfolded during the early morning hours of Aug. 20, leading to the arrests of a 16-year-old boy and his 20-year-old passenger, both of whom are from Los Angeles.

Police Respond to Reported Stolen Vehicle

Simi Valley police were called to the 1500 block of Olympic Street at around 1:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle.

Officers later spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound on Cochran Street. Police attempted to stop the car, but authorities said the suspects refused to pull over and instead continued driving away at high speed.

A pursuit was then initiated as officers followed the stolen vehicle through Simi Valley.

Firearm Allegedly Thrown From Fleeing Car

The pursuit became even more serious when authorities said a firearm was thrown from the suspects’ vehicle while they were attempting to escape.

Police continued following the car as officers worked to bring the pursuit to an end.

Eventually, officers were able to corner the vehicle at the end of a cul-de-sac, leaving the suspects with limited options for escape.

But authorities allege the teen driver made another dangerous move.

Teen Allegedly Rams Police Car With Officer Inside

With the stolen vehicle trapped, the 16-year-old driver allegedly rammed a nearby police vehicle. According to authorities, the officer was still inside the police car when it was struck.

The collision did not result in injuries to any officers, but the alleged act added another serious element to an already dangerous pursuit involving a stolen vehicle and a firearm.

With no apparent way to continue fleeing, the two male suspects were eventually taken into custody.

Two Suspects Face Multiple Charges

Authorities identified the passenger as Maynor David Gaspar Rosales, 20, a Los Angeles resident. The driver, who is 16, was not publicly identified because he is a minor.

Both suspects were arrested on allegations including vehicle theft, assault on a peace officer, evading, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy.

The teenage suspect also faces an additional allegation of being a minor in possession of a handgun.

Rosales was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail, while the 16-year-old was taken to Ventura County Juvenile Hall.

The charges reflect the seriousness of the allegations, although an arrest is not a finding of guilt.

No Officers Injured During Dangerous Chase

Despite the alleged collision, no officers were injured during the pursuit, according to authorities.

The stolen vehicle was also recovered and returned to its owner after the suspects were taken into custody.

The incident remains a striking example of how quickly a stolen-vehicle investigation can escalate, particularly when suspects allegedly refuse to stop and attempt to evade police.

The case will now proceed through the legal system as authorities address the multiple allegations against both suspects.
