The varsity volleyball team ended their season with a bang by making it to the first round of playoffs and achieving an overall record of 24-12. This made their district record 6-4. The girls and coaches are proud to have started this school’s volleyball program off right.

This being Heritage’s first year, many fans and parents are pleased with the outcome.

“Overall, our girls did such a great job this year as a new team with a new coach,” parent Becky Kalkstein said. “It was so exciting to watch the team grow and learn from each other, their coaching staff, and from each match. We just saw a glimpse of what our Lady Jags are capable of, and I can’t wait to see more next year.”

Many players achieved awards such as Katie Greer (10) was named the All-District Outside Hitter, Katie Chambers (9) and Julia Valdez (10) both got 1st Team All-District, Tori Needels (10) and Karena Tipton (9) both got 2nd Team All-District, and many players achieved Acedemic All-District. The team all together also won 1st place in two volleyball tournaments pre-district.

“I think we surprised people with how much we achieved this season,” Greer said. “I’m proud of the team and how much we accomplished together.”

Head coach Sarah Hallum is also very proud of the girls and sees a bright future for the team as a whole.

“This year’s program laid a great foundation of leadership, mental toughness, and a competitive, winning work ethic,” Hallum said. “This is a great start to beginning a tradition of excellence that will be successful and highly respected by all of those competing in it and against it.”
