The varsity volleyball girls won the game against Dallas Carter in three matches on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at home. The scores were 25-6 in the first match, 27-25 in the second, and 26-24 in the third. The team had to fight hard at the end of the last two matches because they were getting close.

The game was quite eventful including a kick and a new player to the team. The crowd jumped to its feet when Julia Valdez (10) kicked the ball over the net right before it touched the ground to earn the second to last game winning point.

“It was about to hit the ground so I just went for it as a last resort,” Julia Valdez said. “I had no idea what I just did, but it worked and it was super funny.”

It was a big night for freshman Grayce Davis as well because it was her first game playing with varsity after being moved up from the lower red team.

“I remember when Coach Fallen told me I was going to play with varsity and my stomach dropped.” Grayce Davis (9) said. “It didn’t feel real and I was trying hard not to let them down. After I while I got used to it with my teammates lifting me up and then we started winning and it was okay.”

According to the girls the game against Carter was a good win and helped prepare them for district.

“It was a fun game that I got to play with my amazing team,” Hailey Hess (10) said.  “They’re like my second family”
