Shoes squeaking and whistles blowing, the Heritage Varsity volleyball team won their last game of district, sending the team off into the play-offs.

Heritage and Venus faced off on October 23, 2020, and the game concluded with a score of 3-0, Heritage coming out on top. This secured the team’s position as district champions and gave them a chance to compete for the state title.

“This game determines the energy we had going into the playoffs,” Hayden Brunson (12) said.

This game brought a more personal level of pride for some of the players on the team as well.

“This year I was introduced and asked to play a new position that I haven’t played before,” Sydney Dickson (11) said. “I am personally proud of learning and adapting to being a middle blocker.”

Additionally, the Heritage Varsity team has a lot to be proud of as a whole.

“Honestly I’m most proud of the bond we have,” Kenlee Ponivas (11) said. “We all get along so well and it just makes it so much more fun and everything runs smoother.”

On a more technical note, Varsity also spends a lot of time training themselves to be the best team that they can be.

“I think just keeping communication the entire time and also having energy is essential for our team to be the most successful,” Dickson said.

Moving forward the team has high hopes for their performance in future games.

“I’m honestly just hoping that my last season of volleyball will end the way it began,” Brunson said, “And that’s with me loving the game.”
