Fictional Worlds to Get Lost in

Different Make-Believe Things to Occupy Your Time

Fictional+Worlds+to+Get+Lost+in

Liam Smith, Writer

It has never been a better time to get lost in the worlds of fiction. Whatever your taste ranges from movies to books to games, there are thousands of wonderlands to get lost in. I’ve done my best to pick the best, most accessible fictional worlds and franchises you just might be able to get absorbed in.

“The Marvel Cinematic Universe”

I know, kind of an obvious choice but really, if you have Disney plus, some of these movies are great. I’m not gonna act like all of these movies are what you might call a “banger”, but some of these films are done extremely well and are technical marvels, no pun intended. These movies also do a really good job of tying into one another, while feeling very separate. There is something for everyone in these films, and are as popular as they are for a reason.

“Middle Earth”

One of the nerdier options on this list, the world of Middle Earth serves as the birthplace of fantasy. Seriously, Elves? Check. Dwarves? Check. Epic adventures? Check. Huge world with monsters and maybe a dragon? You know it. Also, there are tons of different ways to get into the series. If you like books you’ve got some of the best classics in history. If you’re more of a movie person you’ve got the theatrical cut of six different movies. And if you’re really dedicated, each Lord of the Rings movie has a four-hour director’s cut. Plenty to tie anyone over.

“Harry Potter”

Now I’m not gonna lie, I have never actually read, or watched, any Harry Potter. But, if I’m right, they have to be popular for a reason. And with plenty of books, movies, and expanded universe content, there’s plenty to explore.

Minecraft and like every Nintendo game

It was hard to pick a game to put on this list, so I decided on a list within a list. Minecraft stands out to me because of the sheer amount of time you can find yourself playing. Minecraft welcomes the hardcore survivor, and the laid back creative types. I was hard-pressed not to put a bunch of Nintendo games here too. Animal Crossing if you want to simulate a time before quarantine, or legend of Zelda if you want the freedom of exploration again, Mario if you just want to play a video game!

“D&D”

It’d be hard not to mention games to get lost in, and not mention Dungeons And Dragons. I know, it’s easily the nerdiest thing on the list, but trust me when I say it can be a great way to keep in touch. D&D requires other players and because of that you might think it hard to play in these trying times, but on the contrary, it is actually quite easy given you have the internet. You really only need other people and imagination, meaning even from the comfort of your house you too can slay monsters, and go on epic adventures.
