“This Is Us”

A review of the hit show’s newest season

This Is Us is a show filled with emotional rollercoasters about family and relationships. Every Tuesday night the show comes on and conveys new messages about the love of a father for his kids, basic life struggles, and the importance of family. Every episode brings tears to those watching around the country.

So far, I think season three has been the most suspenseful. The storyline of Jack’s brother is the most complex and nail-biting part of the show. The writers were very ingenious in creating a character with so much baggage, and yet so much potential. It is also interesting how Jack is always portrayed as a perfect family man, and yet he left his brother behind all because of an accident. I love the fact that Kevin is redeeming his father’s mistakes by trying to help his uncle.

I’m also excited to see what happens in Randall, Kate, and Kevin’s lives in the present. Kate being pregnant adds some anxiety to the season, because it would be devastating to watch her lose the baby. Randall now has an important political position that I think will help him live up to his purpose by helping those in need. It will let him pour his nervous energy into a good cause. Kevin’s new relationship with Zoe is very complicated, but I think the fact that they are polar opposites will be good for them.

Overall, I think the recent episodes have been the best yet. The first half of season three has given the second half a good foundation to move forward with all the different storylines. I just hope the writers can live up to the high bar they’ve already set.
