The weather is getting colder, which means soccer season is in full force. The week before Christmas break, the boys began practicing and training for a strong season.

Soccer carries lots of responsibility, which includes setting examples for others.

“We definitely feel a lot of pressure to be a good example to underclassmen,” Brad Needham (12) said.

Being on a team with your friends can be fun, but tempting at the same time to have a little too much fun. Nick McCray talks about balancing fun with work.

“We try not to joke around as much,” Nick McCray (12) said.

But to the players, soccer is harder than most anticipate.

“If you don’t have coordination, you’re done,” Nick McCray (12) said. “It’s a lot more physical than most people think.”

Brad Needham backs up Nick, explaining the different aspects to the game.

“There’s a lot more technical aspects to the game, too,” Brad Needham (12) said. “Like formations, movements, and stuff like that. There’s a lot more to it than just kicking a ball.”
