The Tennis players were hyped to face Alvarado because they figured before the matches even started that this would be an easy win. They had more than enough confidence going into this match, and they certainly had the skill to back it up. Beating Alvarado 18-1, they would take their very first district title.

On Tuesday, October 4th, Heritage Varsity Tennis faced Alvarado at the MISD Tennis Complex. They would face them in several different matches from singles to mixed doubles. Both guys and girls said they weren’t intimidated by this team because they were confident in their team.

“On the ride over there I was pretty excited, not too nervous at all,” said Ben Helm (11). “We had beat the team that had played Alvarado before so I was pretty confident!”

The team put in hours of practice to prepare for this game. They worked hard, and it paid off when they crushed Alvarado. Overall, they said they couldn’t have done it without their coach, who also put in hours of planning and practice.

“It took a lot of practice as a team to get where we are today,” said Macy Bell (10). “The district win was definitely worth all the hard work and hours of practice we put in!”

They are currently training for area, where they’ll face another and more difficult opponent. Training is something they won’t stop doing, because they are striving to make their team the best.

“We worked really hard to win district and I think that were gonna move on to area and were gonna keep winning as a team,” said Dustin Heitman (11). “Right now were doing a lot of match play and learning more about doubles matches, were working to be more physically fit and to improve our strategy on the court.”
