The stands erupt with cheering as the players sprint out onto the field. Red and blue colors run together as students stand up, straining to get a better view. The stadium quiets as the the national anthem is sung and gradually voices rise up again with excitement as the players line up in formation for the first play of Heritage’s first ever official Varsity Homecoming game.

“The student section of the game was awesome, they were getting so excited, I think they helped us win,” said Nathen Gaskamp (11).

Within 5 minutes the Jaguars are up 7 to zero.  Down on the sidelines of the field, players guzzle down water and sit for a quick run down over the the next play. Quarters pass by and the gap between Heritage and the opposing team grows as the Jaguars pull ahead even further. With it being the second down and ten yards to go, the crowd is exhilarated with the success of their team, and the clock runs out with a final score of 45 to 19, Jaguars.

“I’ve never seen that much school spirit, with all the dress up days, the mega pep rally, and just the overall great attitude that everyone had it’s evident that everyone loved it and everyone responded to it, so winning the game was just the icing on the cake,” said Principal Krista Tipton.
